Caramel Apple Pork Chops
Ingredients
4 (3/4 inch) thick pork chops
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 medium tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced
3 tablespoons pecans (Optional)
Directions
Step 1: Preheating the oven to 175 degrees Fahrenheit while putting a medium baking dish inside (80 degrees C).
Step 2: A big skillet should be heated at medium-high. Place the chops in the heated pan after lightly oiling them. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until the center is no longer pink. The inside temperature should register 145 degrees Fahrenheit on an instant-read thermometer (63 degrees C). Transfer to the baking dish and reheat in the preheated oven.
Step 3: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
Step 4: In a skillet over low heat, melt the butter. Add apples and the combination of brown sugar. Apples should only be slightly soft, around 5 minutes, so cook covered. With a slotted spoon, take the apples from the skillet while the sauce is still in it, then place them over the pork chops. Reheat in the oven.
Step 5: Sauce should be cooked uncovered for a further 2 to 3 minutes until it slightly thickens.
Step 6: Take the pork chops out of the oven. Add sauce on top, then top with pecans.
